Keep Golden Week or not

People are wondering whether we should keep the golden week or not. As we know, it goes without saying that golden week is a great time for commuters, students, or other social workers to do things they like. But I argue that canceling the golden week is beneficial for people in the long term.

In the first place, China is an ancient country with 5000 years history, including many traditional festival, such as spring festival,ching Ming festival, duanwu festival, Mid-Autumn festival and so on. Although some have been approved as legal holidays, some traditional festivals don’t have own vacations, such as qixi festival, chungyeung festival, winter solstice festival. Golden week can be decomposition to these traditional festivals, so it will be useful to inherit Chinese culture.

In the second place there is no denying the fact that the Golden Week holidays in China has considerably promoted the development of the economy.People around the country have spent more time and money traveling and relaxing .But, because of such a long holiday, people will go to famous scenic spots, and neglected the small spots near their cities. So it is not beneficial to the development of small cities.

In the third place, I believe that it is necessary for people to have long vacations, but there is no need for us to have the vacations during the same period of time. And the Regulations of Paid Annual Leave of Employees was effective as of January 1,2008. So it should be allowed the freedom to arrange our own vacations. Only in this way

can we really relax and refresh ourselves for a new round of work.

In the fourth place, Firstly, thousands and thousands of tourists flood scenic spots, jamming railway stations and airports, causing some over-crowedness and safety problems, putting much pressure on the environment, tourist services and public security. For example, the number of tourists to Beijing reached nearly ten million during the golden week in 2010. Secondly, some businessmen take advantage of the weeklong holidays and raise the price of commodities and services. As for these it has ruined people's mood for vacations.

In the fifth place, these Golden Weeks have disrupted people's regular 5-day weekly schedule.And people have to work 7or 8 days for gathering the golden week. What’s worse, after a long period of time relaxing, people will get holiday syndromes, such as lethargy, lasting tiredness, the lack of passion of nearly everything. So it is possible to affect the work efficiency.

From what has been mentioned above, I argue that it is beneficial to cancel the golden week.
