1.1Theserequirementscoverconductiveandinductivechargingsystemequipmentintendedtobesuppliedbyabranchcircuitof600voltsorlessforrechargingthestoragebatteriesinover-the-roadelectricvehicles(EV).Theequipmentislocatedon-oroff-boardthevehicle.Off-boardequipmentmaybeconsideredforindooruseonly.TheequipmentisintendedtobeinstalledinaccordancewiththeNationalElectricalCode,NFPA70.

1.2Forthepurposesofthisstandard,theterm“electricvehicle”,designatedthroughoutbytheinitials“EV”,isconsideredtocoverelectricvehicles,hybridelectricvehicles,andplug-inversionsofthesevehicles.

1.3Electricvehiclechargingsystemequipmentthatisnotacompleteassemblyanddependsuponinstallationinanendproductforcompliancewiththerequirementsinthisstandardisinvestigatedundertherequirementsofthisstandardandthestandardfortheendproduct.
