by the time引导的时间状语从句用一般时，主句用完成时或者一般时。如：
By the time you get home tomorrow, it will be / will have been 9: 00 pm..
By the time he arrived at home, it was / it had been dark.
By the time we got back from dinner, Nona was already / had (already) been in bed.
By the time I arrived the operation was already / had already been performed.
